i don’t think my family ever missed an episode of the Carol Burnett show. Harvey Korman and Tim Conway are just about as funny as they come. More recently, he can be remembered as Hedley Lamarr from ‘Blazing Saddles’ and Count de Money from ‘History of the World’.
This eve. after work we went to go see ‘Iron Man’. Pretty cool flick…but not the reason for the post.
In the parking garage I saw a leather laptop bag just sitting in an empty parking space. A couple of things went through my mind in a split second.
In no particular order…
1) Oh shit, a bomb.
2) Oh shit, it’s like Christmas morning for Glen.
3) Oh shit, somebody is flipping out right now.
4) Oh shit, if I don’t go near it, it’s not my problem.
I’m guessing, whether you admit it or not, those very thoughts would go through your head too.
I remember a time when I was living in Delray I got a phone call from a police officer saying someone turned in my wallet and the officer wanted to come to my house to drop it off. I didn’t even know my wallet was missing. The officer came by and I made it a point to get the information from the officer so I can thank that person personally. I never did it…and on occasion I think about that guy and feel kind of bad that I didn’t.
I called the local police dept. and an officer met us and picked it up to deliver to the guy. His address was in the bag.
It’s a good feeling knowing that I will have made someone’s day. Now I know I didn’t really have to call that guy who found my wallet back then. I’m sure he would have appreciated it…and I still wish I did it….but I bet he walked around that night with his head held high because he knew that he made my day.
Thanks to a super-huge willow tree in my front yard, it looks likes about 2 or 3 hundred sheep came strolling by my house…stopped on my lawn…had a sheep orgy…and left.
Apparently, willow trees spread this cotton-like seed in the spring.
I think this will be the last year I will see that tree in my yard.
