I’m pretty bummed about the SDK announcement by Apple. Having a jailbroken phone since 1.1.1, I have it set up just the way I like it.
Now, all of the authors have stopped development on their software to focus on the SDK version.
I mean, I understand why they’d do it. After watching the stream of the event and what it’s capable of doing, you can see that they can take their software to a whole new level. Apple did a great job by unlocking the potential of the platform to third parties. Games are going to be SICK!
I hate the fact tho’ that all applications have to be sold through the iTunes app store. It’s asinine that Apple has the final say on what can or can’t be put on the phone. Apple gets a 30% cut on every dollar the developrs make. THIRTY F’N PERCENT!!! For hosting a website. That’s it. Developers do all the work and Apple gets 1/3 of your profit. BS if you ask me.
I’d imagine it’s in the contract saying that the developer isn’t able to sell it anywhere else, otherwise developers will just use iTunes as one marketplace and their website/forums/blogs etc. as another.
It was fun watching programs like iFlix and iBlackjack develop from betas. Their programs are going to be damn cool through the SDK, I just wish I could get outside of Apple.
Here’s to (hopefully) another round of jailbreaking.
