Well, I decided to give in and learn a new craft. Back in the day…the whole reason I got into computers was because of my love of design. My buddy Chris introduced me to Flash many years ago..when Flash 4 just came out…and I was hooked. I did TONS of little animations of friends and such. That was when I was happiest in the industry.

Since then, I’ve had to break off from my passion to make a buck doing support….something I was good at, but I didn’t really enjoy.

Well, Chris is still doing his design and doing well and has sparked my interest in ActionScripting. I’ve decided to devote as much free time as I possibly can to learning this new language and reacquainting myself with Flash. (I’m still not used to calling it ‘Adobe Flash’…back then it was still Macromedia.)

I’ll have to start at the bottom again and work my way up….but I think it’s worth it. If you’re not happy at work, you’re wasting half of your life. That’s how I see it. So you might as well do what you love and make the sacrifices to get there.

I’ve done a few little ActionScripts over the last two or three days. This one I’m most proud of. It’s nothing pretty to look at…and it’s not that big a deal really, but it’s mine and it’s all coded by hand. I’m anxious to see where I can take this. I’ve never coded anything before outside of some basic HTML. I’ve never been into Object Oriented stuff…but once you get a grasp on it, it sort of gets easier. Kinda, heh.
